ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT

The Department handles general administrative matters and coordinates the activities of the following Agencies under the Ministry: Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA), Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC), and Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR).

This is a key Division under the Administration Department which is responsible for Appointment, Promotion, Establishment and Discipline in the Ministry.

Postings and Passages Division

Postings and Passages Division is saddled with the responsibility of internal deployment of officers to various Departments, Divisions and Units within the Ministry, secondment to other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and external posting of eligible officers to all Nigerian Missions abroad, as guided by some extant regulations and after obtaining necessary approvals.

The Division supervises a unit responsible for passages, whose responsibilities involve flight and freight arrangements for Officers on external postings, those returning from posting and those on official trips outside the country. In addition, the Division also handles some aspects of Nigerian Mission’s internal affairs relating to complaints by officers, staff welfare at post, among others.

Training and Staff Welfare Division

The Training and Staff Welfare Division is responsible for identifying, establishing and facilitating training needs for Staff in the Ministry.  The Division satisfies and oversees the training of officers by foreign countries and foreign organizations. It also oversees the operation of the Foreign Service Academy and conducts retirement training to prepare retiring staff for life after service.
