USAID Ventilator

On behalf of Mr. President and the government of Nigeria, the Hon. Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, received two-hundred (200) life saving ventilators donated by the government of the United States.

On behalf of Mr. President and the government of Nigeria, the Hon. Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, received two-hundred (200) life saving ventilators donated by the government of the United States, during the Ventilator Handover Ceremony, today, 11th August, 2020 at the Abuja Premier Medical Warehouse. The minister was assisted by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The ventilators were handed over by H.E. Mary Beth Leonard, the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria and representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as well as the U.S. Centre for Disease Control.

The donation is intended to shore up Nigeria’s intensive care response as it relate to the fight against Covid-19. It was also a fulfillment of the promise made by the U.S. President, H.E. Donald Trump, to support Nigeria’s fight against the global pandemic by sending ventilators to Nigeria during a phone conversation with Nigeria’s President, H.E. Muhammadu Buhari in April, 2020.
