The Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Mustapha Lawal Sulaiman, received in audience, the Ambassador of Algeria to Nigeria, H.E. Belkacem Smaili on 4th December, 2018. Ambassador Belkacem Smaili expressed the evolution of the new era of cooperation between Nigeria and Algeria particularly as regards the collaboration with respect to the recently held Bi-National Commission. He said the renewed vista has set the tone and launched the roadmap to guide implementation of the MOUs/Agreements reviewed during the BNC.
- Ambassador Belkacem Smaili assured of Algeria’s cooperation and commitment to the developmental projects between the two countries including the Trans-Sahara Highway linking Lagos and Algiers, Trans-Sahara Gas Pipeline from Niger Delta to Algiers to Europe and Trans-Sahara fiber optic project which he described as critical projects not only to the development of the two countries but to the whole continent.
- The Permanent Secretary congratulated Ambassador Smaili for a successful Bi-National Commission in Algiers, and intimated that the right framework for implementing the MOUs/Agreements has been established and this will further strengthen the existing relationship between both countries. He called for the sustenance of the three projects under the ‘Development Corridor’ and assured that they would be pursued with vigor.
