The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Geoffrey Onyeama met again with the Press to further address on the alleged maltreatment of Nigerians in Guangzhou
The Minister, while briefing the journalists in Abuja expressed his dismay
Over the controversy following the alleged maltreatment of Nigerians and other Africans by Chinese authorities in Guangzhou province in the quest to enforce measures against COVID-19.
Mr Onyeama also urged Nigerians to be patient with the Government, while investigations and assessment of the incidents at Guangzhou is ongoing. He emphasized that the Government of Nigeria has allowed zero obligation to interfere with rights of Nigerians as our Government considers it absolute obligation to mediate to guarantee the rights and dignities of Nigerians are protected all over the world.
H.E Geoffrey Onyeama commented on plans by the Federal Government to provide a flight which will convey Nigerian Nationals ready to evacuate Guangzhou back home to Nigeria. Unfortunately, such persons may wish to bear the cost of the their travels as Government may not provide for their travels.
